Freezing temperatures to put a winter chill on Tri-Cities this week

The Benton Franklin Health District and 211 are sharing information about temporary warming centers in anticipation of subfreezing temperatures in the Mid-Columbia this week.

Warming centers are physical locations that offer heating and a safe place for individuals to warm up, typically during regular business hours.

Call 2-1-1 or visit wa211.org for information about locations and to confirm operating hours.

Local libraries as well as businesses on the list.

Fall weather will be on full display in the Tri-Cities through the rest of the week, according to the latest forecast by the National Weather Service office in Pendleton.

Sun, wind, rain, clouds and freezing temperatures are all in the extended forecast.

Overnight lows will dip below freezing, the weather service said.

Rain was likely Wednesday.

Thursday will be mostly sunny with highs of 43 degrees, followed by a partly sunny day on Friday, and a slight chance of rain on Saturday, when the high will be around 45.

Sunday will begin with a chance of rain before 10 a.m., followed by a mostly sunny day and highs in the low 50s.

Look for overnight lows in the high 20s to low 30s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
