My wife called this afternoon to tell me to go to YouTube and check out a Volkswagen ad that she'd just heard about on NPR. This is not normal for her, but she didn't want to forget to look at it by the time she got home from the store.
We are a Star Wars-loving household, through and through. In fact, a highlight of our family's visit last month to Disneyland was when our 7-year-old daughter was chosen to participate in the Jedi Training Academy and even got to go toe to toe against the dark lord himself.
The Volkswagen commercial airs during the Super Bowl commercial, so it's an interesting strategy to release it early on YouTube, but it's certainly creating a buzz and already has been viewed millions of times. By the time it airs during Sunday's Super Bowl, much of the audience will already have seen it, but I don't think that will detract from the enjoyment.
