The temperature reached 88 degrees at the Hanford Meteorology Station, beating the previous record of 86 degrees set in 1980. The normal high for Oct. 7 at Hanford is 71 degrees.

On Monday the temperature hit 93 degrees, which was the first time the high has reached the 90s during October since the Hanford Meteorological Service started keeping daily records during World War II.

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the week, with highs in the Tri-Cities down to 70 degrees Sunday.
