The U.S. House approved a $1.1 trillion spending bill Wednesday that includes $2.2 billion for the Hanford nuclear reservation this year.
It would increase Hanford spending by $186 million over the previous year and help prevent some layoffs under consideration.
The House passed the bill by a 359-67 vote, with most of the opposition coming from Republicans.
The bill is expected to be considered by the Senate next, where a majority of Democrats are expected to pass it this week.
