Employees of the Department of Energy Hanford Office of River Protection have worked more than 1 million hours without a day lost to an injury.
The last day of work missed by an employee because of a workplace injury was April 7, 2009.
ORP has 135 federal workers, some of them assigned to work at the Hanford tank farms and vitrification plant construction project.
Employees who identify issues, the use of protective equipment, improved workstation ergonomics, safety notifications and attention to detail helped ORP reach the milestone, said Brian Harkins, ORP safety and health division director.
