The Hanford nuclear reservation at the height of the Cold War and Richland, then a government town for Hanford workers, are the setting for a new crime novel.
Richland native Ray Nelson, who now lives in Colorado, published Atomic City Crime Story as an e-book. It tells the story of a Hanford Patrol officer who is killed and dumped in a plutonium-production reactor pond. His friend investigates, uncovering secrets in 1952 Richland, according to the book description.
