The Department of Energy began advertising Friday for an assistant manager for the Hanford vitrification plant.
The position has been vacant since Dale Knutson, who had the title federal project director, left at the end of May when his contract expired. He was performing the same duties as the position being advertised now but under a loaned executive agreement with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.
The new assistant manager for the vitrification plant will be a federal employee and picked by Scott Samuelson, manager of the DOE Hanford Office of River Protection. Samuelson will continue to serve as acting federal project director until the position is filled.
Ensuring that an assistant manager with the appropriate skills, experience and abilities is selected in a timely manner continues to be a top priority for DOE, said Erik Olds, the Office of River Protection chief of staff, in a statement.
Applications for the job, which pays $119,554 to $179,700 a year, are due Aug. 20. The job posting is at usajobs.gov .
