Kennewick High School graduation: ‘We were made to be loud’
Kennewick High School’s graduating class took a little time to celebrate before looking forward to its next adventure.
No matter where the more than 300 graduating Lions head, it will be an adventure, said Brittany Petersen, ASB president.
“Reaching for the sky is exactly what we plan to do,” said Kylie Nagel, salutatorian. “Whether it be in college, in the military, in the workforce or wherever else life takes us.”
Salutatorian Emma Staley said they don’t have the comfort of knowing where they belong yet.
But “We were made to be loud or to roar,” she said.
Valedictorian Savanna Jones said they will take with them the lessons they learned from each other, teachers, counselors and administrators.
Those lessons include, “only the work you put in can produce the results you want,” “it is up to us to choose the path we will take,” and “there are many layers to a person,” she said.
Don’t get caught so much in planning for the future that you forget to appreciate the present, advised Caleb Davis, class president.
And remember that your Lion pride will always be with you, Petersen said.
