The Richland School Board earlier this week set the schedules for next year when Marcus Whitman Elementary students will be displaced to the Sacajawea Elementary School campus so the new Marcus Whitman can be built.
Sacajawea students will be in school from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., while Marcus Whitman students will be in school from 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The change does not affect the schedules of middle and high schools.
School start and end times had to be staggered because of traffic concerns and school bus availability, according to district officials. The city of Richland is requiring a 30-minute stagger time to decrease congestion.
