A Richland School Board member has announced he's resigning in June before completing his first term.
It means the school board has to pick a new member to replace Gordon Comfort, who's resigning June 9.
Deadline to apply is May 21.
The person chosen will fill the rest of Comfort's term, which ends in December 2019.
Comfort is stepping down because he's moving out of state with his family.
A former Richland High School principal, Comfort was elected in 2015 after unseating longtime board member Phyllis Strickler. This was his first elected term to the board.
Applicants must be registered voters who live in the Richland School District. School employees are allowed to apply, but they'll have to resign if picked to serve.
Application forms are available at www.rsd.edu/board/vacancy.html or at the district office, 615 Snow Ave.
Finalists will be interviewed in late May, with a new board member expected to be announced at the June 12 board meeting.
