A mother was cited by Kennewick police on Wednesday after she left her three young children, one as young as nine months, in a hot car while she went to a doctor’s appointment.
Officers were called to the doctor’s office parking lot after someone reported seeing the children in the car, a release said, and waited for 25 minutes for the mother to return.
Temperatures were in the low 80s and had raised the temperature in the vehicle. The 9-month-old was strapped in his car seat and wrapped in a blanket. Officers also changed the 9-month-old’s diaper and fed him and gave all the children water.
The 27-year-old mother was cited and released for failing to supervise her children when she returned.
