Estudillo to take up Grant County judge’s seat

Moses Lake attorney David G. Estudillo will take a seat as Grant County Superior Court judge this month.

Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Estudillo on Aug. 19, citing in part his community and volunteer work.

“His commendable efforts and commitment to justice make him the right choice for the bench,” Inslee said in a news release.

Estudillo, 41, has run his own Moses Lake law firm since 2005, specializing in immigration law and civil practice. He earned his law degree from the University of Washington in 1999, and previously worked with Jeffers Danielson Sonn and Aylward in Wenatchee and Scheer and Zehnder law firm in Seattle.

A son of Mexican immigrants, Estudillo is a native of Sunnyside. He and his wife have three children. His appointment makes him the only Latino judge at the state court level in Eastern Washington.

The appointment was effective Sept. 1, but Estudillo will be sworn in Sept. 10. His first day on the bench will be Sept. 14.
