Kennewick police are looking for a masked man who attacked a 46-year-old woman with a knife in her own home early Tuesday morning.
The woman was with her 4-year-old daughter in the living room of her apartment in the 600 block of south Kent Street about 5 a.m., a release said. Her husband had left for work just minutes before as usual and she had opened the apartment’s sliding glass door to allow cool air in.
The suspect, wearing all black clothes, including gloves and a face mask, entered the home through that open door, pushed the woman down onto a mattress in the room and lunged at her with what appeared to be a hunting knife, police said.
The woman used her legs to kick the attacker away. Her teenage son heard the struggle from his room and ran in, yelling at the suspect, who fled the apartment and the complex to the northwest.
