A Pasco man was arrested late Sunday after his SUV became high-centered on a part of downtown railroad tracks not designed for vehicle crossing and was hit by a train.
Rafael Rodriguez Perez, 37, was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and second-degree trespassing.
Perez was not injured in the 11 p.m. collision. However, his Infiniti QX56 apparently was ruined.
Pasco police Sgt. Brad Gregory said officers were dispatched to the scene at 110 W. Columbia Street, near North Tacoma Street, after the SUV was struck by the train.
It is not known how fast the train was going when it hit the Infiniti, but trains reportedly have a 25 mph speed limit through that populated area of Pasco.
