A 32-year-old Kent man is accused of having sexually graphic conversations with a Tri-City teen through a mobile chat app.
Carson Michael Danford allegedly claimed he was 19 years old while chatting with the then-14-year-old girl in March 2014.
Danford pleaded innocent Thursday in Benton County Superior Court to one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. His trial is scheduled Aug. 24.
According to court documents, the girl’s parents discovered the conversation on her cellphone and contacted police. A forensic exam recovered the chat history between the girl and someone identified as “carson2252,” documents said.
The conversation included talk of specific sex acts, court documents said. The two also reportedly exchanged pictures.
Officers identified Danford through their investigation and served a search warrant on his Kent home, where police seized multiple storage devices, including his computer, documents said.
A later search of those storage devices allegedly revealed suspected child pornography images, though Danford has not been charged with a related crime.
Danford is out of custody on his personal recognizance.
