The bell tolled for a juvenile burglar early Friday morning after he allegedly tripped a switch at All Saints Episcopal Church.
Richland Lt. Chris Lee said it appears the suspect broke into the church at 1322 Kimball Ave., through a second floor window by way of a fire escape.
It appears the suspect was going through the church offices and managed to pick up a few small electronics, Lee said, but inadvertently hit a switch that controlled the church’s bell while possibly looking for a light switch.
The bell sounded for at least 30 minutes before police were called to the church. One witness said they saw what appeared to be a juvenile male running from the church but they didn’t get a close look. The case is under investigation.
