A man suspected of robbing the Headie’s Tobacco and Accessories store on Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick last month later killed himself during a standoff with police in the Yakima area, authorities said Thursday.
Travis Sregzinski, 38, address unknown, took an undisclosed amount of cash and a few glass smoking devices from Headie’s on Nov. 19 and fled the store before officers arrived, police said.
A witness told police that Sregzinski talked on a cell phone while robbing the store at gunpoint, talking to a woman while the phone was on speaker.
The woman, Aimee Leseman, was suspected of acting as a lookout for Sregzinski, police said. She was apprehended by Kennewick police Thursday and booked into the Benton County jail after authorities received an anonymous tip as to her whereabouts.
During the investigation, detectives learned about Sregzinski’s death during a standoff Nov. 20, the day after the Headie’s robbery. He had not been identified as a suspect in the robbery when he died.
