Authorities arrested a Walla Walla man Tuesday after he abandoned a stolen car during a chase, leaving his wallet and ID behind.
Antonio Saturnino Contreras, 27, led authorities on a high-speed chase that started on Highway 11 and ended in the front yard of Milton-Freewater house, according to Oregon State Police. The chase reached speeds over 100 mph.
A trooper tried to stop Contreras for speeding in a Toyota Camry station wagon around 10:50 a.m., state police said. Contreras fled north on the highway and troopers called off the chase because it became too dangerous.
Authorities then spotted the empty vehicle near the front steps of a house, state police said. They used the wallet to identify Contreras.
