A West Richland woman severely injured when her SUV rolled on Interstate 182 last week is showing signs of improvement.
Diana L. Vargas, 50, went through extensive surgery Monday for injuries she sustained in the Aug. 22 crash, said her son, Jason Vargas, 19.
Diana Vargas nearly lost her arm and has been in a medically induced coma since the crash.
"We are just hanging in there," her son said. "She is doing a lot better, and they are working miracles at Harborview."
Her family is asking for donations so they can travel to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be with her as she undergoes more surgeries, Jason Vargas said.
An account has been set up through Gesa Credit Union in Diana Vargas' name. Donations can be made at any branch.
Vargas' son Daniel Church and his friend Dylan, both 15, were also injured in the crash. Church suffered minor injuries, and Dylan broke a bone in his back.
A Chihuahua named Diamond was killed in the crash.
