A Pasco man threatened a loss prevention employee with a Taser at the Kennewick Ranch & Home on Wednesday after he was reportedly caught shoplifting, police say.
Justin N. Barrett, 22, was attempting to steal items from the store about 7:25 p.m., and when confronted by an employee, he allegedly brandished a Taser and threatened the employee, said Kennewick police.
When the employee backed off, Barrett fled on foot, dropping the stolen items, police said. A Kennewick traffic officer found him walking on Clearwater Avenue near Union Street a short time later.
Barrett was arrested and booked into Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. The Taser was recovered, according to police.
