A jury has been seated in the Benton County manslaughter trial of Kelli A. Jacobsen.
Attorneys on Wednesday morning picked nine men and five women to hear evidence in the June 2011 case.
The panel includes two alternates.
Jacobsen, 28, is accused of recklessly causing the injuries that led to the death of Ryder Morrison.
The Richland toddler died while in surgery for his head trauma. He had celebrated his birthday the day before.
Jacobsen was Ryder's live-in nanny.
She is charged with first-degree manslaughter. That includes aggravating circumstances that the victim was vulnerable given his young age and that his death had a destructive and foreseeable impact on others.
Opening statements will be given Thursday morning, followed by witness testimony.
The Superior Court trial is expected to last three weeks.
