A Prosser father who reportedly has his own medical marijuana card is charged with smoking the drug with his minor children.
Jeremy E. Hansford, 42, pleaded innocent to one count of delivering marijuana. His trial is scheduled Aug. 13.
Child Protective Services got a tip between Feb. 1 and 20 about the alleged activity. Officials spoke at school with one of Hansford's kids, who reported seeing Hansford smoking marijuana with two siblings, court documents said.
Prosser police used that information to get a search warrant for Hansford's home and found seven large containers of pot, each weighing about 120 grams, documents said.
Hansford showed police that he has a marijuana card for himself, along with a card showing he is a provider for someone else, court documents said.
When officers had arrived at the home, they saw two minor children coming out of a back shed on the property. "Both appeared to be under the influence of marijuana and marijuana was located in their rooms in the residence," documents said.
Hansford's kids were taken into protective custody.
