KENNEWICK -- A 53-year-old Kennewick man was arrested Saturday after allegedly shooting a rifle at a Kennewick man.
The victim, 31-year-old Elio David Carcamo-Lopez, was not hit, and James Kammeyer was arrested when police arrived on scene.
Kennewick police were called to the 200 block of North Yost Street when Carcamo-Lopez reported Kammeyer had showed up at his house unannounced and started threatening him, said Officer Craig Hanson.
Kammeyer reportedly told Carcamo-Lopez "he better run," then went to his truck, pulled out a rifle and started shooting at him, Hanson said.
Carcamo-Lopez ran to a neighboring house, but Kammeyer caught up with him. He then struggled with Kammeyer in an attempt to get the rifle that was being pointed at him, Hanson said.
Kammeyer gave up and went back to his pickup, dropping the rifle off inside the truck as officers got on scene.
A loaded firearm was found in the truck and spent shell casings were recovered from the crime scene, he said.
Kammeyer was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
