Ex-Prosser mayor faces 2 additional charges

Two additional charges were filed Monday against former Prosser mayor Linda Lusk for communication with a minor for immoral purposes and third-degree rape of a child.

Lusk is accused of inviting a 14-year-old boy to her home for a sexual encounter and sending sexually explicit text messages to him.

A status hearing is Jan. 3, according to Lusk's attorney, Scott Johnson. Lusk already is facing a charge of third-degree child molestation.

The boy is not being identified by the Herald under a policy not to publish names of those who report sexual crimes.

Lusk, 49, is charged with inviting the Prosser High School boy to her home in late April for the brief sexual encounter.

Her husband, Kevin Lusk, is principal of the high school.

Also Monday, prosecutors asked the court to review the conditions of Lusk's release after she recently texted the victim. Johnson said Lusk got a new cell phone number and sent an automatic message to everyone in her address book, including the boy. She is prohibited from contacting the victim. That issue also will be discussed next month.
