PROSSER -- Thieves who broke into a Prosser Christmas tree lot last weekend stole nearly $5,000 in tools -- but not the owners' Christmas spirit.
Jason and Alison Henderson of Richland and Terry and Bev Barnes of West Richland have reopened and still plan to donate a portion of their sales to Prosser's Boys & Girls Club.
"It just underscores the challenges Prosser youths face," said Jason Henderson. "The tools have no monetary value to them right now unless they hock them."
In addition to breaking the lock on the trailer the tools were stored in, the thieves trashed the interior, tossing the hot chocolate, cider and cookies the Hendersons' daughter, Claire, 7, was selling to help charity.
