A vehicle prowler reportedly was caught in the act late Monday after an alert citizen called Sunnyside police when he saw someone breaking into a car, authorities said.
Officers caught a 20-year-old Toppenish man when they arrived in the 1600 block of East Gregory Avenue just before 10 p.m., said Charlotte Hinderlider, a police department spokeswoman. A second suspect ran off, she said.
Nelson C. Barajas was arrested and booked into the Sunnyside City jail on suspicion of second-degree vehicle prowling, possessing vehicle theft tools and resisting arrest.
