Man barricades himself inside Tri-Cities home after shooting up girlfriend’s car

A fight between a man and his girlfriend ended with SWAT surrounding a West Richland home for several hours Thursday.

Sidney Porter, 30, was arguing with his girlfriend when she left their home Thursday night, Benton County sheriff Lt. Mathew Clarke.

He tracked her empty car down to a home near the intersection of Highway 224 and Sunset Road and fired several shots into the car shortly after 10 p.m.

As deputies were getting reports about the gunshots, a deputy saw Porter returning home. Police soon surrounded the house, and called in Tri-Cities Regional SWAT team to help get Porter out.

He barricaded himself inside and refused to talk with officers, police said.

After several hours, Porter surrendered and was booked into the Benton County jail on investigation of second-degree malicious mischief. No one was hurt.
