Interstate 90 reopened and chains are required to travel both directions on Snoqualmie Pass.
It is snowing heavily on the pass. The roadways are covered in compact snow and ice, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation at 6:15 p.m.
Snow is expected to continue falling through Tuesday night.
The Washington State Patrol is warning that it could be slow going for many hours still because of the long line of backed up trucks and cars due to the closure earlier today.
The estimated time to travel between Ellensburg and North Bend is nearly twice as long and the normal 78 minutes under good road conditions.
A collision involving a truck carrying plywood closed the westbound lanes earlier.
