A 20-year-old Pasco man nearly ran over himself trying to flee Pasco police. And it was caught on video.
Officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of West Sylvester Street and North 26th Avenue at 12:07 a.m. Sunday. They saw a silver Toyota Camry leaving an alley, running on a flat tire and then it hit a building.
Sgt. Chad Pettijohn said the driver wouldn’t stop for him and he pursued him across the city. On North Seventh Avenue, the left front wheel fell off and rolled down the street.
On East Adelia Street, the driver slowed to stop and jumped out of the car.
“It was still in motion forward, and he kind of got hung up by one sleeve when he bailed out,” said police. “The car he had been driving knocked him down and then dragged him about a car length.”
Brandon E. Arrieta, 20, of Pasco, was treated for minor injuries and then arrested on suspicion of car theft and attempting to elude the police. Police are investigating the hit-and-run collision that started the chase.
