A 15-year old female Pasco High student was hit by a car Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. while using the crosswalk on West Sylvester Street at North 14th Avenue.
Police say the student was walking to a convenience store on her lunch break when a female driver in a late-model Buick SUV struck her while making a left turn from the southbound lanes of North 14th Avenue.
Sgt. Rodrigo Pruneda credited residents living near the intersection with providing emergency care to the injured pedestrian before emergency workers arrived on scene.
The victim was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment of right leg and hip pain, Pruneda said.
