Ryan Hocker, 7, of Richland, right, joins other campers to shake up bags of ingredients along with ice and salt to make ice cream Wednesday during the Farm to Table Camp at the Reach center in Richland.
The one-day camp included students going to a farmers market to buy ingredients for ice cream and a barbecue, going to an organic farm to pick potatoes, a lecture on Native American foods and culture from Curtis Bearchum of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Reservation, ice cream making and a cookout.
The campers learned about where their food comes from, and how to follow a recipe and make food on their own.
