A brush fire just east of Benton City was quickly extinguished by firefighters early Sunday morning.
An official with Benton Fire District 4 told the Herald that firefighters were called around 1:30 a.m. to the blaze on Kennedy Road east of the Kiona Village Community mobile home park. The fire was put out by about 2 a.m., with crews from Districts 4 and 2 and the Richland Fire Department responding.
The burn was limited to about a 50-foot-by-100-foot area. No buildings were damaged, and no one was injured. The cause of the blaze is unknown.
