A temporary ban has been declared in the unincorporated areas of Umatilla County for all types of burning, including agricultural.
County commissioners declared the ban Wednesday because of extreme dry conditions, low humidity, numerous wildfires and the need to prevent uncontrolled burns.
This excludes land under the jurisdiction of the State of Oregon, the United States Government, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and areas covered by a rural fire district. The burn ban is in effect until further notice.
