The public is invited to tour the Benton PUD’s new solar project Wednesday.
A ribbon cutting, followed by tours, is planned for 10 a.m. at the Benton Public Utility District facilities at Highway 395 and 10th Avenue in Kennewick.
Benton PUD commissioned the project to meet interest from customers who wanted to invest in solar for its environmental benefits and the financial incentives being offered by the state of Washington.
Benton PUD sold 1,500 units of the project for $250 each. A random drawing of interested customers was held after 5,840 units were requested by 429 Benton PUD customers.
