Awards and Achievements for June 28

The wall is dedicated entirely to things that local youth have done, including artwork and pictures. The Boys and Girls Club display will remain year-round and will showcase youth artwork, upcoming events and pictures.

The Washington Achievement Award recipients are the highest performing schools in the state, based on three years of academic information as reported in the Washington Achievement Index.

Kennewick School District has received 25 Washington Achievement Awards during the six years the program has been in place. This is the fourth time Southgate Elementary has earned a Washington Achievement Award, and the only time a school in Kennewick has one it twice for Reading Growth.

Schools are recognized for being top performers in six categories, including: overall excellence, high progress, reading growth, math growth, extended graduation rate (only awarded to high and comprehensive schools) and English language acquisition.

  Kylie Stone received a $2,500 Special Education Award from the College of Education Scholarship Fund at Washington State University. This award is given to undergraduate and graduate students at the College of Education. She graduated with an associate of arts degree from Columbia Basin College. She plans to graduate WSU in fall 2016 with a degree in elementary education with a minor in human development, and an endorsement in special education.

Stone has received academic achievement awards and the Chancellor’s Academic Honor’s recognition award.

Stone is the daughter of Robin and Charlie Stone of Kennewick.

  Kaylyn Lesser of Richland was named to Gonzaga University president’s list for fall semester. She earned a 4.0 grade-point average. Kaylyn is the daughter of John and Kiane Lesser of Richland. She is a 2014 graduate of Richland High School.
