Kennewick and Richland are among 90 sites where state employees plan to rally June 18, with the prospect of a government shutdown looming.
The “unity rallies” will be at noon on the sidewalk outside the Department of Social and Health Services at 1120 N. Edison St. in Kennewick, and at the Ecology Richland Field Office, 3100 Port of Benton Blvd.
The rallies are being coordinated by the Washington Federation of State Employees and the American Federation of State, Federal and Municipal Employees, according to a news release.
Thousands of workers from 31 state agencies could be laid off if no budget deal is in place by June 30, the unions said.
State parks and fish hatcheries will close, as well as other services, the unions said.
