The Richland Rod and Gun Club is expecting to have web cameras in place Tuesday morning to catch the jump of wood ducklings out of the nest, with cameras positioned both inside and outside of the nest box.
The club also has a camera in a nest box where a kestrel is feeding five young. The nestcams all are in the West Richland area.
To see the ducklings climb out of the box, click on the camera looking inside the nest box www.ustream.tv/channel/rrgc-duckcam. They usually jump from the nest about 24 hours after they hatch to find food. They hatched Monday morning.
Dale Schielke, chairman of the club’s wood duck project, was waiting Monday evening for the mother duck to leave the nest so he could set up an additional camera outside the nest without disturbing her.
If he’s successful, viewers can see the ducklings outside the box at www.ustream.tv/channel/wild-wood-ducks.
