Discover and explore Scandinavian culture during A Taste of Scandinavia, a free public event offered by the Sons of Norway.
The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 at Kennewick First Lutheran Church, 418 N. Yelm St.
Activities include cooking demonstrations, armory and sword fight demonstrations, displays of Scandinavian runescape jewelry, bunnads (traditional folk dress), a hand-carved diorama of Christmas Eve in Norway, a geography presentation and a genealogy room held by a local expert on Scandinavian family research.
There will be a number of craft demonstrations including: wood carving, spinning and weaving, hardanger embroidery, huck weaving, and wire weaving.
Traditional baked goods will be available. Swedish waffles will be available beginning at 10 a.m., and a buffet cafe will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
For children, there will be a Lego play yard and a Viking duck race. Guests can also participate in a drawing, which offers a wide variety of Scandinavian items.
