The moon passed through the center of the Earth's shadow early Wednesday giving Mid-Columbians a beautiful view of a lunar eclipse.

This happens only when the moon is full and aligned with the Earth and sun.

On Oct. 23, a partial eclipse of the sun will be visible across most of North America beginning about 1:40 p.m.
