A Kennewick man recently won the top prize of $50,000 playing Washington’s Lottery “Liberty Bills” Scratch.
John Moulin was with his girlfriend when he first found out he had won the big prize. He said he kept his cool but she was “in shock and couldn’t speak,” Moulin told Lottery officials. “I thought it was a $100 winner at first.”
The frequent Lottery player purchased the ticket at Max Mart on South Garfield Street in Kennewick. “They have a nickname for me there — Lorax — because of my mustache,” he said.
Moulin plans to celebrate his win with his family, and share some of it with his three children. He will save the rest. This is his second noteworthy win with Washington’s Lottery. He also has won $1,000 playing Lotto in the past.
This isn’t the only big winner in the Tri-City area lately.
Laurie Kozlik of Richland won $50,000 playing Scratch last month, and Audrey Harwick, also of Richland, won a $50,000 Scratch prize in June.
Two $50,000 top prizes still remain in Liberty Bills Scratch.
