An Oregon Department of Transportation worker was killed Tuesday while on a chip sealing job near Echo, officials said.
The worker was identified as transportation maintenance specialist Donald Kendall, 54, a 29-year transportation department employee, according to the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin.
The Oregon State Patrol and Umatilla Sheriff’s Office were notified of an accidental death at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at a work site on Highway 320 south of Interstate 84, according to a State Patrol news release.
Highway 320 is closed during the investigation, which is being led by the State Patrol, OSP said. The Oregon Occupational Health and Safety Administration is also on scene.
