Pasco stadium getting new field turf

Dillon Davidson guides the start of a roll of used field turf Wednesday while his father, Harley, drives the boom lift in reverse to begin removing an 80-foot section of the artificial playing surface at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco. The work is being done by Field Turf of Tualatin, Ore., and is part of a project that includes replacing the athletic track surface. The stadium, a popular site for people to exercise, is closed for public use until Aug. 15. Chiawana High School and Ochoa Middle School tracks are open to the public except during scheduled practices and events and during summer school use, school officials said. The stadium's original field turf was installed in 2002, exceeding the expected eight-year life span by four years.
