Fish and Wildlife plans Kennewick open house today

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife plans an open house Wednesday in Kennewick to discuss long-term game management plans with hunters, landowners and others interested in the state's wildlife.

It has proposed a draft plan for managing wildlife from 2015-21 and the final plan will guide the development of hunting seasons, deer and elk conflicts with farmers and ranchers, hunting access to private land and wolf management after wolves are no longer classified as an endangered species. New rules requiring the use of non-toxic shot also could be included in the final plan.

Comments will be accepted at the open house from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn in Kennewick. The public also can comment on key aspects of the plan by taking a survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/gmpobjectives through July 18.
