Residents were able to escape a Kennewick house fire that caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage.
The fire started Wednesday night shortly before 9 p.m. at a house on North Rhode Island Court, fire officials said. A passerby spotted the fire and called 911.
There were two adults inside the house when the fire started, officials said. Both were able to get out and they tried to put the fire out with garden hoses.
The fire started on an outside deck and quickly moved inside the house then to the attic, officials said. It took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
Investigators do not believe the fire was intentionally set.
There were 21 firefighters from Kennewick, Richland and Benton Fire District 1 that responded to the call.
