A Richland School District teacher will receive a teaching award from a national education group in February.
Brian Sites, who teaches social studies, mathematics and technology at River's Edge High School, will receive $10,000 when honored by the National Education Association Foundation at a gala in Washington, D.C., with the Horace Mann Award for Teaching Excellence, a release said.
Sites was nominated for the award by the Washington Educator Association, the state chapter for the national organization. Officials said he was selected for his efforts to make education engaging for students and adapt to differing learning styles.
Four other teachers from around the country also will receive the award.
