The Benton County Prosecutor's Office is waiting on crime lab reports from the Washington State Patrol before deciding whether to file criminal charges against a Kennewick man who was shot by a police officer.
Prosecutors are reviewing Dennis Jaymes Skellenger's case, said Kennewick police Sgt. Ken Lattin. There is no time frame for when the reports will be done.
Skellenger, 26, was shot through the chest by Kennewick Officer Jeremy Taylor June 14 after he allegedly pulled a revolver on police near Horse Haven Hills Park.
Skellenger was recently released from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he treated for the gunshot wound. The bullet grazed his left wrist, struck his chest and went out his back.
