The American Red Cross said it has an urgent need for platelet and blood donors of all blood types.
The organization saw far fewer donations than expected in June and the first week of July, a news release said. Nationwide, donations were down about 10 percent in June.
Steve Stegeman, CEO of the Red Cross Pacific Northwest Blood Services Region, said in the release, "Each day donations come up short, less blood is available for ... patients in need."
