Two drivers hurt in alcohol-fueled crash near Royal City

A 23-year-old Othello woman was seriously injured Friday night when her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 26 near Royal City.

Gisela Marcelo-Sedano was taken from the scene by helicopter to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake.

The other driver, Deanna L. Hubbard, went in an ambulance to the same hospital.

Updated information on their conditions was not available Saturday evening.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, Marcelo-Sedano was driving east on 26 at 10:43 p.m. when her 2000 Oldsmobile Alero crossed the center line.

The Oldsmobile struck the front left of a 2001 Nissan Xterra that was westbound on 26, nearly 13 miles east of Royal City.

Hubbard, 46, of Royal City, was behind the wheel of the Nissan. A 17-year-old boy in the SUV reportedly was injured but was not taken to the hospital, the report said.

All three were wearing seat belts.

The State Patrol is recommending charges of driving under the influence, vehicular assault and driving over the center line for Marcelo-Sedano. Hubbard was cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license.
