An Eastern Oregon woman accused of manslaughter in the death of her 83-year-old mother has been released from jail after posting bail, but was ordered to stay away from her sisters.
The East Oregonian newspaper reports 64-year-old Ida Powers of Irrigon was also told at a pretrial hearing that she can leave Morrow County but not cross the state line.
Powers’ mother, Anna Lyons, died from an untreated bedsore last October.
District Attorney Justin Nelson said Powers had been caring for her mother before other members of the family intervened when they saw Lyons’ condition.
The relatives also accuse Powers and her husband of spending $200,000 of Lyons’ money and adding $47,000 of debt to her name.
Powers has not been charged with theft or embezzlement.
