The Tri-Cities Cancer Center is the recipient of the 2013 Mid-Columbia STEM Catalyst Award for its support of science and math education.
The award was given by the Washington State STEM Education Foundation at an event this week. Past winners have included The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and Ann Wright-Mockler, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory science education coordinator.
The cancer center was recognized for its learning and internship programs for students focusing on science, math, technology and engineering education. The center had four interns from Delta High School, the Tri-Cities' multi-district STEM school.
"The Tri-Cities Cancer Center is an exemplary STEM learning partner, improving our community through supporting STEM education for local students as they explore careers in STEM fields," a press release said.
